Recruitment Part 9

Recruitment Part 9.

I’m op but begin an Inn Vol 6 Ch9

A/N:

This will be my first update in about a year.

No – I’m sorry I can’t keep the story straight.

Anyway, I wrote it all down at once.

I’m sure there will be some funny parts, but I hope you will give me a warm welcome. ……

Well, here you go.

________________________________________________________

In front of the inn, where more than half of the guests could no longer even raise their voices in protest, carla’s explanation continued.

Next, the reason for those who were accepted. If you don’t belong to the reasons why you failed this time, I think many of you may feel that ‘the reasons why I failed don’t apply to me’.

If you are one of those people, I hope you will be satisfied with the reasons why we have hired these people this time.

It was a most reasonable opinion. Some of those who took the test this time were serious about becoming employees of the inn. The reason they didn’t adopt such a person doesn’t apply to them.

It can be said that the desire to be clarified has rather increased than decreased in knowing the reason for the rejection.

So, as for the reason why we chose these three people, there are three items that I have placed importance on this time.

The first is strength, the second is depth of commitment and the last is potential.

Silence filled the space in front of the inn as I tried to listen to every word of Carla’s explanation. It was so quiet that you could almost hear the noise from 100 meters away, even though the place was so crowded with people that you would think there was a festival going on.

In such silence, Carla’s voice that was not loud but unusually clear echoed.

First of all, let me explain about strength. Strength is not only military power. We have chosen people with “strength” such as perseverance, which is essential in this profession where you have many opportunities to encounter a wide range of customers.

All three are former adventurers and all of them are B-class or higher. Not to mention pure military might. Then,

Despite being given the infamous nickname of “dexterous poor” Ms. Sylves continued to improve herself without complaining about it. I heard from a guild official that she was left behind by her friends who were leaving for Clan Reed and that the drunks around her were messing with her but she never stopped being an adventurer and spared no effort to improve own abilities. I have a great deal of respect for her ability to do that.

Next is Ms. Rique, she is a noblewoman as her name suggests. However, she became tired of the nobles who were only interested in groping each other’s guts and expanding their power. So, she became an adventurer She graduated from the Adventurer Training School with first class honours and promoted to A-level adventurer at a young age even conquered the third station of the Clan Reed Mountains.

Instead of living a life filled with danger, she wanted a job that was safe and gave people peace of mind. Deciding to take the opposite path from the family into adventurer business of fighting demonic beasts, she made the rounds to greet all of the party members, guilds and other relevant departments.

Some of them hurt her with their heartless words but no matter what they said, she kept in mind that it was her own action that caused it and accepted it. Did you see a glimpse of her perseverance? That’s why I chose her.

Last but not least is Luca, who has visited the inn more than once. Each time she visited, she negotiated directly with me to hire her as an employee. At the time, we had no plans to add more employees so I didn’t nod my head at her words. …… And this time, she came to the negotiating table for 12th time and I feel she has a lot of tenacity.

Carla talks away at once. The reason for this is strength, and nearly half of the candidates who hear this again have a look on their face that says, ‘I don’t agree with it’ or ‘That reason applies to me too, doesn’t it?’

After looking at the faces of these candidates, Carla starts to talk about the following reasons.

◇◆◇◆◇

The next reason is “depth of commitment”. We wanted to see how much effort you could put into the inn and what sacrifices you could make for it, etc. Ah, it doesn’t mean that you will be accepted because you have the spirit to sacrifice for the inn, so please pay attention to that.

Carla gives a prelude to explaining the following reasons: People who say, “I’ll die for the sake of the inn!”are untrustworthy. I just didn’t want you to misunderstand that.

As Carla began to explain, the candidates who still had a glimmer of dissatisfaction on their faces stepped forward trying not to miss a single word.

Now, contrary to what I said earlier this is from Luca and I told you earlier when we were talking about the reasons why she came to negotiate so many times. However, there are several others who have negotiated many times and some have done it as many times as she has. Those people may have wondered, ‘Why her?’

So why did I hire her? She says that she always follows a set procedure when she comes to negotiate. The first is, “I quit being an adventurer.” The other is, “I’ll negotiate after I’m ranked above B level“. These are the two resolutions she has set for herself. This is how much she have prepared for this but I think it’s only natural that they should be treated differently from those who were here to negotiate.

Hearing this, some (especially the adventurers) were taken aback.

I’m quitting the Adventurers.

It is very easy to put it into words. However realistically, there are many factors involved, such as ‘how will you live until the next earning’ and ‘how will you guarantee your identity?

As long as you are an adventurer, no matter how low your rank is you will be treated as an employee by the guild and your guild card will serve as your ID card. However when you quit, your card is no longer valid so you have to get a new citizenship, register, etc. Furthermore, once you stop being an adventurer you have to wait at least a month before you can register again. There was no way she could simply quit and return to being an adventurer. This is a guild that deals with trust and confidence so, at the very least they are thinking about it well.

In addition, she ranks higher than a B grade every time.

It’s not easy here either.

There are 10 guild ranks, starting with the G level and ending with the SSS level. (There is also a Transcendent class, but it’s considered unreachable by humans.)

When you start as a normal adventurer, you start at F level (the reason you don’t start at G level is because G level is the earliest group of people who can at the very least say “I’m an adventurer”. In a sense, the level is so low that it is better to be a bandit etc. to defeat them and be kind to the world. You can then gradually raise your rank by completing requests and other tasks. If a former adventurer re-registers, they can start over with a slightly higher rank based on their previous rank but they will still only start at a maximum of D level. Besides, there is also a specialized promotion test for rank advancement. It involves a lot of difficulty to move up to the B level.

It must have taken a lot of determination to shake off the static around her and quit being an adventurer to go negotiate with Carla after being promoted to such a B level every time. And with no certainty of being accepted, ……. Normally, I would have shied away from it. She have done that a dozen times in a row. This was probably because in addition to his determination, she also had a first-class strength of will.

All the candidates who had come up as adventurers were reminded of the depth of Luca’s resolve.

As I explained earlier, she was a great adventurer. She was the one who was almost certain to be ranked up to S rank. Would people around her leave her alone like that? Moreover, what would her family think?

The answer was simple: her quitting the Adventurer was thwarted, to say the least. It seems that the guild continued to interfere with childish obstacles such as not fulfilling the request to cancel the adventurer’s registration, blatantly making a long-term request and forcing the adventurer to continue and the parents’ family suddenly requested a return home and forcibly incorporated the matchmaking partner into the adventurer’s party.

She did not give in to such obstacles and pressure, She did not let their sweet words deceive and she quit the job as an adventurer just to change jobs at this inn. Do you all have any idea how much that means to me?

A few more surprised looks come from Carla’s explanation.

If you rank up to S class, the benefits you will gain are immeasurable. At the inns affiliated with guilds, prices are lower depending on rank, but at S level, it is possible to stay in a top-quality suite for the same price as an F-level adventurer renting a large group sleeping room at the lowest rank.

Weapons and Armour shops will also be able to sell you good weapons at a discount, since you will become famous for creating and selling weapons used by S-class adventurers.

The average C-level adventurer can buy top-of-the-line equipment at reasonable prices, enough to turn it into mere scrap iron, and maintenance and other services are free.

You’ll get priority in jobs and after all, you’ll be recognized as an aristocrat. (The king did not want to establish such a system, but the other nobles pressed him to do so, and he reluctantly agreed.)

It is truly a dream come true for the average person.

Even though she was offered such a path to the S class, and even sweet-talked into various other perks, Rique’s heart was not moved, and she says she quit her adventuring career to change jobs at the inn.

There are questions such as “Why do you stick to the inn?” but I could tell that her passion for the inn is not half-hearted.

This is another great resolve, comparable to Luke’s earlier.

The rejects, who had been dissatisfied earlier, heard their reasons and knew the depth of their resolve, and were ashamed of themselves for not having that level of resolve.

Moreover, I was curious to see how prepared the third person was.

As if she had read the minds of the unsuccessful applicants, Carla’s explanation resumes.

◇◆◇◆◇

And lastly, Ms Sylves? She even went to the Guild master and decided to quit.

That one word caused more of a stir in the audience than ever before.

She has failed twice in her attempts to challenge Clan Reed. It is impossible to say now how good she was at that time but it seems to have been due to her lack of firepower.

Because of this, she was fired from the party, subsequent loss of reputation against her and many other things.

However, she had always dreamed of traveling to Clan Reed and she had been training for a long time. Her current abilities are equal to or better than Ms. Ricure’s. I’ll leave it to your imagination as to whether it is accurate or not, as it is my observation.

But rumours are a tricky thing. The rumours about her had grown to such a size that the Guild couldn’t do anything about it even if they moved at the earliest opportunity.

She had been wondering for a long time. I’ve trained hard, and I’m sure I’m getting stronger, but I’m not getting any calls,’ and ‘Maybe I’m not cut out to be an adventurer.

After much hesitation, she chose to consult with the guild master.

The assembled spectators knew how much trouble she was in. Until now, the troubles that Sylves had, who had not particularly objected to being called [poor in dexterity], were that big,…….

Consult the Guild master.

In fairy tales and heroic tales of the past, there are often scenes of friendly conversations with guild masters and direct requests from guild masters but of course, this is not possible in reality.

As a guild that responds to the opinions of the people, naturally they are often asked for advice. The guild master’s job is to check the contents of the requested work, check the appropriateness of rewards, determine the appropriate rank, check the actual contents of the request, conduct regular inspections at various locations and secure personnel for these inspections, and much more.

The Guild master himself has more than enough problems to solve on the fingers of one hand within a year, and he generally only hears the ramblings of the King himself.

Consultation to such a busy guild master. Sylves’ consultation that took him to that position.

This is an eloquent indication that her counsel is of considerable importance.

There is definitely no direct approach to Sylves from the Guild master. She was not a high enough ranked adventurer to be singled out, so there was a good chance that she would be considered biased if you approached her there.

If you’re coming, from the Sylves’ side. It was probably the biggest concession the guild could offer (privately, but ……).

Besides Sylves, who had decided to consult the Guild master, must have also made a pretty big decision.

Consultations with the Guild master will be listed in the Contract of Souls, due to its nature.

The contents of the contract, inscribed in the contract of the soul, must be fulfilled no matter what.

If the contract is not fulfilled, he is to be immediately sent to jail or worse, executed.

I don’t know what kind of contract Sylves signed to take the exam, but going to ‘consult with the Guild master’ is the worst thing you can do, so much so that you have to consider death.

There was no way she could go in for a consultation with half-hearted determination and this also showed the depth of her resolve.

This is why I chose them.

The voice of CARLA, which closed the show, reached everyone’s ears gently.

◇◆◇◆◇

In front of the inn, it’s quiet, no one can refute the situation anymore.

Carla’s explanation was in its final stages.

The last one is future potential. This one is not so complicated unlike the previous ones.

These women are each capable of improving themselves. They are young, in mid-20s, and has a lot of room for growth.

Not only that, but I believe the inn will be out of my hands in the future. I don’t know when that will be but if we have people like them then, the inn will flourish even more and eventually become a large scale inn with locations all over the continent.

Yes, “potential” refers to the girls themselves, but it also refers to the inn itself.

The development of the inn caused by their presence and the decline caused by their absence. I chose development.

At first, I thought I could only continue this inn for as long as I lived. For that reason, I did not hire any person as an employee no matter what kind of person came, ……, but now it has become something that I do not want this inn to end in my generation. With that in mind, I have chosen people who can take over all the skills I have.

Carla concluded.

No one could argue with that.

Those who had harboured evil thoughts were reminded of their own shallowness and those who had made a reasonable resolution were reminded once again of whether they were truly prepared.

Finally, the question I put to you all. There is no right answer to that one.

If you genuinely and sincerely answered, “The customer is God,” then I have nothing to say to you. That’s one answer, so ……

They didn’t care about the answer to the question any more.

No matter what the right answer is, it is no match for the words of a prepared person. I’ve been hammered on how flimsy my answers were. ……

◇◆◇◆◇

A crowd of people leaving from in front of the inn. Their expressions were all cheerful. They were not the faces of those who had failed their exams, but everyone’s hearts were full of vitality in their own way.

In front of the quiet inn, the owner and the new employee met each other.

Well, I’ll have you learn about the business of the inn thoroughly from tomorrow. Nice to meet you all.

Carla’s voice rang out, expressionless but with a happy smile on her face.

A/N:

More employees.

I will write about their training from next time.

Oh, and on the subject of coming with a revised version.

Sorry about this again, but it’s going to be a long way off.

I’ll write more about what I want to write about, and then I’ll get it to a point where I’m happy with it.

Epilogue, complete.

Then I was thinking of doing a revised version.

Sorry I said a few more episodes or something.

I think I was mentally drowning in all kinds of things at the time.

A number of masterpieces that reminded me again of the joy of writing.

To all the users who gave me words of encouragement.

Thank you very much.

The pace of updates may not change much, but…

We look forward to your continued patronage of the “Chi Inn”.

See you in the next episode.

3/25 Revised to Lecture -> Protest.

Thanks for pointing that out.
